One Way Around Leadership ... GK List Notional #5,063

Fairly straightforward purifier spam

Inquisitor w/ psycannon, servo - 83
4 Acolytes w/ Bolters, 1 Acolyte w/ Storm Bolter - 27
Chimera w/ hull heavy flamer - 55

Crowe - 150

5 Purifiers w/ 2 psycannons, Plasmaback - 220
5 Purifiers w/ 2 psycannons, Plasmaback - 220
5 Purifiers w/ 2 psycannons, Plasmaback - 220
5 Purifiers w/ 2 psycannons, Plasmaback - 220
5 Purifiers w/ 2 psycannons, Plasmaback - 220
5 Purifiers w/ 2 psycannons, Rhino - 180

Psyfleman - 135
Psyfleman - 135
Psyfleman - 135

So, what's this thing have going for it ... well, it still disembarks at midfield psycannon wise; you can keep one squad in rhino if you want.  The Inquisitorial chimera is moving 6" and firing psycannon once it is in position.  Against long range armies that try to play stand-off, you've got 5 lascannons and 12 twin-linked missile shots from 8 units (aka at up to 8 targets).  This is the primary reason you don't go with pass/psybacks instead of plasmabacks ... you don't need dinky lil s6 shots (b/c Chimeras blow everybody up, right?), and you don't need more 24" range fire to try and jam into midfield and properly cover the board ... you need the ability to rapidly reach out and touch zippy armies that will try to put the hurt on your boyz while keeping the 24" guns out of range as long as possible.

  1. You also forgot to mention that assaulting them will not exactly be fun either as their psychic power has the potential to decimate hordes and light armor infantry; making Orks think twice before assaulting them.

  2. Dunno mike, yes you get around the leadership issue, but took a huge survivability hit, and lost your torrent of S5.

Worth it? Not sure, needs playtesting. But I preferred the Karamazov lists to this.

  3. It's pretty good.

I got my 1500pt take on Purifiers up today. Finally had a break in my schedule to write.

  4. I think your worrying too much about leadership honistly. These arn't guardsmen we are talking about. LD9 and always being able to rally is pretty good, and can arguably be said to be good enough for most situations. If your that worried about things panicing and being escorted off just take a librarian and summon them away to a point where they can rally. MSU tank shocking armies will have their tanks blown to bits before they really become a threat, and shooting a unit into a to panaic test isn't that big of a deal for marines.

Specifically, this list feels like your trying to make a marginal space wolf list, only it's coming out worse. For lots of reasons 5 man purifier squads are not awesomesauce...expecally since they will be on foot and not have the protection of a rhino to do their buisness out of.

If you are really stuck on the "I don't care about LD" theme, then I'd stick with Karamakov, but start fleshing out his other abilities to make him more usefull. Right now you are using him as an expensive regmenatal banner while trying to shoehorn him into other roles which he's not really well suited for. I would think about looking into getting some more use out of his orbital bombardments...possibly with a couple of 130 pt interceptor squad shunting to get the perfect position to center the hole over. Combine with grandmaster and their are lots of possiblities.

  5. Hrmm. I don't like it as much either.

Perhaps because it's just 6 of the same unit (basically) Dunno - that's an odd thing for me to say, ofc, but I think that may be it.

Captcha: Excize - very appropriate for GKs, methinks. (Even if spelt as by an idiot.)
