So long as you're playing with Tactical Objectives 'out-of-the-box', there's 36 of them, and it's pretty much fixed what they will be. How it works out is pseudo-random, and the parameters are fixed. <br /><br />Once your army is built to accomplish them, then you need to move/psychic/shoot/assault so that you have the pieces in place to accomplish each of those 36 contingencies if and when they come up. <br /><br />If you're taking an army that can't accomplish any of these contingencies, such as a pure Necron force, then you need to either take Tactical Warlord Traits to aid in manipulating those contingencies, or you need to be able to prevent your opponent from doing so.<br /><br />These are all the same skills that come up in Eternal War missions.
